Why is Everyone so obsessed with protein

For a while now, people have been obsessed with protein. And by obsessed, I mean eating unhealthy amounts of it without even knowing it's unhealthy. People should not be eating 1 gream of protein per pound of body weight. It is just completely unnecessary and potentially dangerous. It is recommended to eat 1.2-1.6 g of protein per KG of body weight. Not per pound, per KG - which is less than pounds!


Even at the highest number, which is 1.6, this still does not equate to eating as much proteinas you weigh. It can be harmful to eat that much protein, or you will just pee it out. When you have too much protein in your pee, it can be an indicator of something wrong, and your doctor will become worried. 


The thing that annoys me the most about this protein craze is that people are listening to other people on the Internet, who are eating 1 to 2 g of protein per pound of body weight and 2 g of protein per pound of body weight is completely too much and that is definitely gonna put a stress on your body and so please do not listen to those people and if those if you’re following people who do that then take pity on them because they don’t actually know what they’re talking about and they’re doing something that can actually harm them in the long run so of course everybody is different and what they consume and what they can handle and people know their own bodies well but just a word of advice take the FDA regulations try to stay within or around that limit because if you have a lot more than that, then it can be dangerous. I know a lot of people.


Don’t trust the FDA, but the FDA is putting in these guidelines for a reason it’s because they’ve tested the grams and everything on people like literal people that have been case studies and I can link some of these case studies below, but they’re doing actual research which is telling them what the body can handle and what happens when you have a certain amount of protein, how well you build muscle and how well you keep muscle based on the amount of protein that you’re eating so you can trust the FDA more so on this protein intake guidelines just because there are so much testing going on with it



Protein is the building block of muscle


So what does protein even do for you and why should you be concerned with the amount of protein that you’re eating? good question, I’d love to answer it for you. Protein is the building blocks of cells and it is very important that you do eat enough protein I know I just got off on a rant of saying that you should not be eating too much protein, but it is still important for you to be eating enough protein because if you don’t eat enough protein, you could lose muscle mass and that becomes more and more important as you age. It is also really important if you are trying to build muscle because you enjoy working out and you’re trying to become more fit and stronger and you need more muscle than eating enough protein is going to be your number one biggest fan also just eating enough in general of course if you’re working out and trying to gain strength and muscle, you need to be eating enough so carbs and fats as well but protein is really important and it’s easy to figure out how much protein do you need because it’s the 1.2 to 1.6 g of kilogram per pound of body weight.

how excess protein can hurt you


so when you eat too much protein, it can actually harm you like I was seeing earlier so your body can only digest so much protein at a time and in a day and so if you have too much protein at once, then your body’s not even gonna be using that protein and eat that’s a waste of protein and most proteins like meats that you’re buying is not super cheap especially if you’re buying protein powder it’s almost 2 dollars a serving and that is just way too much for the nutrition that it’s giving you and yeah that’s just astronomical. It is a waste if you’re eating too much protein in one sitting. Studies have shown that you should not eat more than 30-40 grams of protein in one sitting because they have done clinical studies that have shown that that is how many grams you can eat in one sitting without it being too much or your body to just digest it as a carb instead of a protein.


Some people actually cannot digest as much protein as some people are eating, and it can actually really harm you if you’re eating too much protein in your body is having a trouble trouble breaking it down and so please be mindful of that and make sure that you don’t have that condition or just that body type that doesn’t want to digest that much protein


how to find out exactly how much protein you need


So like I mentioned the best way to find out how much protein you need is figure out how much you weigh and then multiply that by first step is to figure out how much you weigh in kilograms and then from your weight in kilograms you multiply it by either 1.2 or 1.6 depending on how much protein he want if you’re really trying to build muscle then I would do it 1.6.
