Why should I listen to my body about what I should and shouldn’t eat?

There are so many reasons why intuitive eating and all-around just listening to your body is so much better than any kind of advice that you’re gonna find out there. From a young age and really from the time that we were born, we know what our hunger keys are and we know what our full keys are, and we learned them very quickly.
A lot of people think that toddlers are picky and just end up not eating things because of their pigs, but I really do believe that it’s because they know when they’re full and when they’re hungry and they’re learning that as well. The best thing that we can do for them, and for our ourselves is to trust them and give them plenty of option
Now that being said, it’s basically the same thing for us is to trust our ourselves and give ourselves plenty of options
It is so good for us to eat a variety of foods throughout the day and throughout the week so that we don’t get bored or go crazy or start hating what we’re eating. It is so important that we enjoy what we eat because God made food for us to eat and enjoy, and he made a lot of delicious food
I think a lot of people like to characterize foods as either good or bad or healthy or not healthy and I think that there’s just so much more to it
Of course they’re gonna be foods that are really nutritious for you and you get a lot of micro nutrients and your body is just completely fueled by them and then they’re gonna be foods that your body quickly digest and you know your pancreas has to release a lot of insulin cause there’s a lot of sugar and that’s just all around not good for your body so we know scientifically that having too much sugar at Once is really bad for you
That isn’t saying that sugar at all is bad for you. It’s having too much of it and knowing what our limit is and what amount we can have and still feel really good.
When you’re eating enough and you’re enjoying what you’re eating a lot of times, especially when you’re good and making sure that your blood sugar is at a level place you’re typically not gonna be craving sugary things because your body isn’t craving calories leg typically is when you’re craving something sugary. When you’re craving something sugary, your body is screaming for calories because you might not have eaten enough that day or within the last several hours and it’s just begging for a blood sugar spike to have energy. So that’s why it’s really important to make sure that when you’re eating, you’re eating something that isn’t going to completely spike your blood sugar levels.
Eating is fun and should be fun and is delicious and should be delicious listening to your body and your hunger. This is going to be the best way that you eat enough without eating too much and feeling sick over it. It’s not clean plate club. it’s OK if you don’t finish the food on your plate, put it in a Tupperware and put it in the fridge and finish it later. Maybe you’re hungry a little bit later that night or maybe you don’t eat it until the next day. Leftovers are perfectly acceptable.
There’s a thing called blank where the more you think about something and the more you try the greater likelihood that you’re going to fail. That’s why when a lot of people start diets that’s all they can think of and it pretty much consumes them and then they end up binging because they feel so restricted because they’ve been so obsessed over it.
That’s why so many people even influencers were giving you bad advice are giving somewhat good advice when they’re saying that fitness and eating good nutritious foods is a lifestyle and not a diet
Eating intuitively and eating whole nutritious food is something that you build and you create habits so that you’re eating really good foods and you’re also making sure that if you want dessert you fit it in there and you make sure that you’ve had a really nutritious dinner, but you still really enjoy brownies and so you make sure that you have brownies when you want brownies
If you’re taking care of yourself, your body isn’t going to be craving the largest slice of brownies ever known a man and so your body is not gonna be flooded with too much sugar. It’s gonna be just right, especially because studies have shown that if you have sugar after a nutritious meal, your blood sugar isn’t going to spike as much as it would, if you just ate the sugary thing on its own.
There are so many nuances and caveats and things that you learn when you’re in the middle of intuitive eating and eating whole nutritious foods, but the biggest thing is that you should be giving yourself grace when you’re on this journey of eating better and taking better care of yourself. The reason why we take better care of ourselves is so that we can stay longer and love our family and run around with kids and grandkids and friends, and be able to do everything that we dreamed of. There’s so much in this world that God has provided for us to enjoy and we can enjoy it better when we’re taking good care of ourselves.
